The Collection

The first Collection is being assembled.

No Heritage Vehicle is published yet. A vehicle appears here only when its Heritage Record is ready to be read: everything we found, and everything we could not. You can take part from the beginning.

Take part from the beginning

What each Record contains

  1. IOriginWhere and how the vehicle began.
  2. IICustodiansKnown keepers, and the gaps between them. Private names stay private.
  3. IIIDiscoveryThe journey from the factory to today.
  4. IVDocumentsThe paper trail, scanned and filed.
  5. VRestorationWhat was done and why, or why nothing was.
  6. VIOriginalityWhat is original, restored, replaced or unknown.
  7. VIIConditionWhat was observed, the displayed odometer, title and registration.
  8. VIIIWorldThe period the vehicle lived through, kept apart from its own history.

A chapter appears only when something has been recorded for it.

How to read a Record

Every statement about a vehicle carries one of four marks. The mark describes the evidence, never the vehicle.

Verified
Matched to a source held in the Record. Not a certification.
Context
A sourced fact about the world the vehicle lived in, not about the vehicle.
Inference
A conclusion drawn from evidence, with the reasoning shown.
Unknown
Investigated. No reliable evidence was found, so the gap is kept.
